A total of 42 Argentine players, 57 Mexican and 41 Brazilian aspired to become a Sports Heritage of Humanity
Argentine footballer Lionel Messi and former players Edson Arantes do Nascimento "Pele" and Hugo Sanchez have been named "Sports Historical Heritage of Humanity" in their respective countries.
