Leo Messi has been credited with the trophy for best player of the last edition of the Champions League
Barca's Argentine striker has finally achieved his first major award after finishing second in 2007 at the FIFA World Player and third for the Golden Ball that year and in second place in 2008 in both the Golden Ball as in the FIFA World Player.

Messi was rewarded by UEFA, after a vote by the coaches equipment present in the second round, as the best player of the last edition of the Champions League dethroning Cristiano Ronaldo, who was the winner of last year.
Barca player was awarded up to the president of UEFA, Michel Platini, and was happy with such distinction. Messi won the last vote the other winners at the gala: Van der Sar, Terry, Xavi.
